About Roslyn
My inspiration for photography developed from a love of nature and people.
Whether photographing a drill rig in the field or a newborn baby cradled in its mother’s arms, I enjoy the challenge of creatively approaching each photographic assignment to reflect the style anticipated by the client.
Growing up on a banana farm in the wet coastal tropics of the very picturesque town of Innisfail is a stark contrast to then living in the NW region of Queensland for over 18 years.
Looking back on photos from when I was young, one thing remains, that I have always loved the outdoors and open spaces (and dogs and rocks).
That’s me on the far left with the puppy (and my Mum and 2 older sisters) and that’s me again on the far right, proudly showing my Dad a rock. I think I was destined to be a geologist from an early age.
Oh, and yep, that is me in the middle too, parading my amazing fashion statement on the farm. Don’t worry, I’m sure that look will come back in style one day!
Geologist to Photographer
It’s fair to say that I feel more at ease in steel caps than stilettos.
With 15 years hands on experience as a geologist in underground mining and exploration, I have developed a special interest in industrial, aerial and mining photography. I thoroughly enjoyed working as a geologist.
Now, as a professional photographer, I have a strong appreciation for all safety aspects when working on site – not only for myself but for those working around me. When photographing in mining and industrial environments, I understand the importance of working efficiently to minimise any downtime in production.
My natural affinity to people and nature is reflected in my portraiture, capturing an earthy, natural style.
Townsville is now home, and I travel within regional areas of Australia for commissioned projects by request.
Apart from my love of photography, my family time is very precious to me, and in my spare time I love to run and generally plan holidays around parkrun locations and exploring the beautiful natural landscapes of Australia! I believe in making the most of every day.
Looking forward to hearing from you 🙂
