What better way to surprise the love of your life than to hide an engagement ring in a shell and pop the question while snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef!  Well that’s exactly how Ash recently proposed to his beautiful English girlfriend, Gemma… and she said yes!!

Gemma and Ash met in Yorkshire, England, in September 2013 when Ash had gone to UK to play for a nearby rugby team.  At the time, Gemma was renting a house with a friend, and the landlord was associated with the rugby club and asked if the girls would mind having an Australian rugby player stay with them for a couple of weeks while they found him some long term accommodation. At first the girls were a little reluctant to have a stranger move into their very ‘girly’ house, but as it was only temporary they agreed to the arrangement.  Ash moved in, they fell for each other straight away and he never left!  The following July they moved to Australia for Gemma to experience life over here and now the plans are underway for their life together… wherever that may be. Congratulations to Gemma and Ash and it was a pleasure to share the afternoon with you both (and the million mosquitoes!).  Very best wishes for your future together :)
