2013 marks the 90th year of history of Mount Isa, since the first discovery of lead ore in 1923.  Local resident and historian, Barry Merrick embarked on a personal project to record the history of mining in Mount Isa.  His first book has recently been published, capturing the historic record from the initial discovery of ore through to the first production in 1931.  This short video shows a little of the ‘behind the scenes’ to Barry’s passion for his writing and collating of this remarkable historic record.  Feel free to contact Barry (email: bazza155@bigpond.net.au) for more information on ordering your very own copy of the book.  In the meantime, click on the image below to view the video.
