Geikie Gorge is easily accessed by road only 21kms north-east of Fitzroy Crossing along the Savannah Way in Western Australia.  There are a couple of walks to get up close and learn about the Devonian reef system but the best way to experience the gorge is to take the guided boat cruise.  The 14km long gorge was formed by the Fitzroy River’s floodwaters carving the limestone reef, resulting in impressive rock walls up to 30m high.  The lower cliffs are beached white by flood waters that reach up to 16m above the normal river level. The wildlife abounds and we were lucky enough to see a number of crocodiles on our trip along the river.  I would highly recommend Geikie Gorge on your Kimberley bucket list.
