One of the many great things about living in Mount Isa is the fact that there is always something great going on and a fantastic bunch of people to share it with.  Steve and I somehow got roped into being part of a team for the Gregory River Canoe Marathon.  Well actually, we jumped at the chance to join in and we had an absolute great weekend, enjoying the picturesque scenery, relaxing by the river, and then getting the adrenalin pumping competing in the event.  Congratulations to the North West Canoe Club for organising the event and encouraging such great participation.  I managed to get a few piccies along the route while we were waiting for our next leg of the event.  Feel free to contact me if you find yourself amongst the photos and would like me to send you through a complimentary image :)

Registration was held at the Gregory Downs Races so we popped in for a quick look before heading back to the river for a relaxing afternoon with Leo.

Let the action begin! The 43 km race winds through a variety of water conditions, from rapids to gentle lagoon areas and offers the most beautiful scenic paddle.  As part of a 7 person team, Steve and I did the first and last leg of the race totalling about 11km.
