The coast north of Perth sure does have some sensational beaches and scenery. One of my favourite spots between Perth and Geraldton was Jurien Bay.
Geraldton was our furthest north destination on our quick visit to Western Australia. We met one of the local volunteer tour guides, Trevor, at the HMAS Sydney II Memorial and it was a treat to chat with him as he had a real passion for his city and region. We are looking forward to getting back to Geraldton at some stage and exploring further north in WA.
Heading East from Jurien Bay we decided to go in search of Drovers Cave NP with a young German couple that were keen to see a bit of the outback. The maps showed it as a region that should be fairly easy to find and access but it proved a bit more difficult than anticipated and we ended up having to go on foot as neither of the vehicles were 4×4. We eventually found what we assumed was the caves and were met with a swarm of bees at the entrance and a locked gate with no access. At least we had a pleasant work in the middle of nowhere and managed to see a few of the remaining wildflowers of the season.
