There is something very special about dogs, and Bailey is one very exceptional dog that deserves some special recognition for his hard work.

Bailey is the longest serving member of staff at Mount Isa Special School, having just completed 6 ½ years of service (or 46 years in doggy life).  Bailey is an Assistance Animal with lots of personality.  He has been trained by the Association of Australian Assistance Animals (NQ). His day is varied, as he visits classes in the school, with duties ranging from operating switches for students – so that pages can be turned in a story, to removing shoes and socks so that the students can participate in activities in the Multi-Sensory Room.  He can also be found sleeping in the Principal’s office – this is occurring more frequently as he reaches retirement.  Bailey is one very loved and loving animal and I’m sure he holds a special place in many people’s hearts.
